چکیده

Background The priority problem of modern healthcare is irreversible dementia due to the steady increase in morbidity. Among dementias, Alzheimer’s disease takes first place. Most often, only with sufficiently pronounced cognitive disorders, doctor can diagnose disease, although it obvious that neurodegenerative process begins even before clinical manifestations disease. Due common origin eye and brain, we say a “window brain”. Many scientists note similarities between gerontophthalmological diseases Method study examined 60 patients who were divided into 2 groups: group included second vascular dementia. Each 9 men 21 women, an average age 65.5 years. All underwent comprehensive neuropsychological examination, using short Mental Status Assessment Scale (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Function (MoCA), battery tests for assessing frontal dysfunction (FAB), clock drawing test. Also, all ophthalmological examination visometry, measurement intraocular pressure, anterior segment fundus, spectral optical coherence tomography. Result In course study, significant ophthalmic pathology was detected changes - age-related macular degeneration found 16.7%, pseudoexfoliative syndrome-20%, primary open-angle glaucoma-46.7%. Conclusion This means risk developing increases disorders. Therefore, assume retina mirror which will allow at early stages help drug therapy delay further development resulting reduced disability socio-economic costs society. results obtained are promising diagnosis indicate need research on this topic.

Pathology of Neurodegenerative Diseases

As the average life expectancy has been extended by the current state-of-art medical technologies, the elderly population is increasing rapidly. The world is now facing the ‘ageing era’, which comes with social issues like neurodegenerative diseases. Neurodegenerative diseases are progressive neurological disorders highly linked to brain injuries from which there is no recovery. Selective neuro...

Editorial: Golgi Pathology in Neurodegenerative Diseases

The Golgi apparatus is a central organelle that lies at the heart of the secretory pathway sustaining the delivery of proteins from their site of synthesis in the endoplasmic reticulum to their final destination, the extracellular medium, the plasma membrane, and the endo-lysosomal system. It ensures post-translational protein modifications such as glycosylation and proteolytic cleavage and pro...

The cellular basis of dendrite pathology in neurodegenerative diseases

One of the characteristics of the neurons that distinguishes them from other cells is their complex and polarized structure consisting of dendrites, cell body, and axon. The complexity and diversity of dendrites are particularly well recognized, and accumulating evidences suggest that the alterations in the dendrite structure are associated with many neurodegenerative diseases. Given the import...

Hemichannels in neurodegenerative diseases: is there a link to pathology?

Although originally considered a structural component of gap junctions, connexin hemichannels (HCs) are now recognized as functional entities capable of influencing metabolic gradients within the CNS, allowing direct communication between the intra- and extracellular milieus. Besides connexins, HCs can also be formed by pannexins, which are not capable of gap junction assembly. Both positive an...

Exosomes: Future Perspective in Neurodegenerative Diseases

Neurodegeneration is a progressive and irreversible loss of neuronal cells in specific regions of the brain. Alzheimer Diseases (AD) Parkinson Disease (PD) are the most common forms of neurodegenerative diseases in older people. Exosomes are extracellular nanovesicles that have a key role in physiological processes such as intercellular communication, cell migration, angiogenesis, and anti-tumo...
